LT read that clipping over and over. Each time hurt worse than the time before. She was engaged. He met her less than four months before she was supposed to get married. He felt his stomach drop to his feet. Was she engaged when he took her to bed? Was he supposed to be her last fling before tying the knot? It made sense now, her leaving in the middle of the night like a thief.

Come to think of it, she was a thief. She stole his heart and three years with his kids. Hurt boiled up in him. Did her pregnancy end the engagement? He had so many questions his head hurt. They would have to wait though. He didn’t want to fight with her before dinner tonight. He didn’t want the added stress when they brought the boys to meet his family.

LT pulled his phone out to check his email. He was replying to his cousin, Camille, when the door opened. Jo strolled in looking stunning. She stepped out of her ridiculously high heeled shoes. The sigh she let escape, tightened his pants. He remembered that sigh, one of pure bliss.

She looked around assessing the room.

“They’re still napping?”

“Yeah, for about two hours now.”

“I’m going to change. I’ll be out in a minute.”

LT stood up, heading toward her bedroom. He stood outside of the closed door imagining her naked beyond it. If he closed his eyes, he could remember every detail of her soft body. He felt like he could hammer nails with his dick it was so hard. He took a deep cleansing breath.

“Hey, Jo. My parents are having dinner early tonight. They asked us to be there by four.

Does that work for you?” he asked the door.

“Sure. Just text me the address.”

“You don’t want me to pick you up?” He couldn’t disguise the hurt in his voice. The door opened to him. She stood in a pair of cut off denim shorts and a tight black tank top.

“I didn’t want you to go out of your way, LT. That’s all. If you would like to pick us up, then we’ll be ready whenever you want us to be.”

“I would like to arrive together, thank you.”

“Sure.”
